AARP Tax Assistance

Free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service is available for low and middle-income taxpayers with special attention to those ages 60 and older.

 

Tax-aide volunteers will prepare:

Forms 1040EZ, 1040A with Schedules 1,2,3 and EIC

Form 1040 with Schedules A,B,C-EZ, D, EIC R & SE

Form 1040 V

Form 1040 ES

Form 2441 (Child & Dependent Care)

Form 8812 (Add’l Child Tax Credit)

Form 8863 (Education Credit)

 

Tax-aide volunteers will NOT prepare:

Schedule C (Business P&L)

Complicated & Advanced Schedule D

Schedule E (Rents & Royalties)

Schedule SS-5 (Request for SS#)

Form 2106 (Employee Business Expense)

Form 3903 (Moving Expense)

Priority service will be provided to taxpayers based on the Tax Counseling for the Elderly Program’s legislative intent.

· Copy of previous year tax return. If necessary, contact the IRS for a copy of last year's return.

 

 

· W-2 forms from each employer

 

 

· All 1099 forms (1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-misc., etc.) showing interest and/or dividends as well as documentation showing the original purchase price of your sold assets

 

 

· If you were paid Social Security benefits, bring your SSA-1099

 

 

· If you received a pension or annuity, bring your 1099R

 

 

· All forms indicating federal income tax paid

 

 

 

· If applicable, unemployment compensation statements

 

 

· Child care provider information (name, employer ID, SSN)

 

 

· If itemizing deductions, bring all receipts or canceled checks for items such as medical expenses, taxes paid, mortgage interest paid, and charitable contributions

 

 

· Social Security numbers for all dependents
