Bellevue Arts Museum

Bellevue Arts Mueseum: Divine Ammunition

Tuesday - February 21, 2017

Using guns and ammunition, sculptor Al Farrow creates sculptures of reliquaries, cathedrals, synagogues, mosques, mausoleums, and other devotional objects.

The artist denigrates no one belief in his work, being mindful, discriminating, and probing toward all. His striking composite depictions of religious architectural structures are meticulously realized and perfectly scaled. Gun-barrel towers and domes built of bullets not only compel the viewer to consider the present, but also recall the history of conflict. The artist's material choices may be jarring, but they also provoke awe and inspire reflection.

February - October

Hikes run between February and October and range from 3 – 6 miles. Destinations vary throughout the year. Our goal is to give all an opportunity to participate and have a good time. Unless otherwise noted, hikes will leave at 9 a.m. from the GMVCC. Cost $12/person (unless otherwise noted).

Please note:  Our hiking program is popular and fills quickly.  Please call the Center as soon as possible if you are interested in signing up.

  • We will plan to have a snack and/or a rest at the midpoint of our hike. Bring snacks and at least 16 oz of water.
  • We will hike rain or shine. Dress appropriately, (i.e. layers, rain gear, boots, hats, gloves). A light daypack is recommended for carrying essentials.
  • Hiking boots (or trail shoes) and a walking stick or trekking poles are recommended.
  • Hikes require a minimum of 5 registrants, and a maximum of 11.
  • Hike leader is both Adult CPR and First-Aid certified.
