Volunteer at

The Greater Maple Valley Community Center

Give back to your community, meet new people, get involved, and have fun!

We LOVE our volunteers! Volunteers make it possible for our small staff to offer the wide variety of programs and services it does. So whether you are looking for a one-time or on-going opportunity for an individual or a group, GMVCC has many ways to contribute, have a positive impact, and make a difference.

If you don’t see something you’re looking for, please ask. Many volunteers also help the Community Center in very specialized ways, such as providing expertise on marketing, computer help, helping with fundraising, or designing publicity materials. And we're always looking for volunteers to take on leadership roles. Please contact Mark by email or call 425-432-1272 to apply for the programs that interest you most. All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application and pass a criminal background check

"I was bored being a newly retired person so I was looking for something to do and to be useful. And I found out that the community center just down the street needed volunteers, and I was happy to find that the people were welcoming and it was a place where I could fit in. The reason I keep coming back is that they need me and I NEED them! Thank you GMVCC!!"

-- senior volunteer

Volunteer Opportunities

Front Desk

Do you have clerical or reception skills and enjoy interacting with a variety of people? If so, we're looking for you!

Facilities

Duties are dependent on current needs. Opportunities may include helping with building and landscape maintenance, including weeding and planting, painting, cleaning and repairs.

Court-ordered Community Service

You can fulfill court-ordered community service requirements at GMVCC, however, we are unable to work with those who have committed most felonies or any violent crimes. Although required by the court, your volunteer work is very much appreciated!

Youth Programs

GMVCC Youth Programs provide a variety of opportunities for youth to volunteer and provide service to their community. Adults may also volunteer as mentors or instructors to help with GMVCC youth activities and events.

50+ Senior Programs

The GMVCC 50+ Senior Program provides opportunities for adults to contribute to our community through active volunteerism. Assist with event food preparation, help serve meals for our MWF lunch service, set up/take down/clean up after programs, help with senior Bingo games, package or deliver meals for Meals on Wheels, and more.

Days of Giving

GMVCC has opportunities for local groups, businesses and churches who wish to volunteer in their community by organizing service days at the Community Center. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year and also include Make a Difference Day on the third Saturday of each October.

Board of Directors

The GMVCC board is responsible for the development and continuous updating of the Center’s strategic plan, which includes five-year financial pro-forma. It is responsible for approving the annual budget, which is recommended by the Finance/Audit Committee. The board determines and evaluates policies and procedures, including an investment policy that guides the management of the Center’s operating reserves and endowments. The board monitors operational performance, hires the Executive Director, and ensures that the resources necessary for the Executive Director’s success are available and allocated.
